I agree with Kale. To date, a Qtr Midget hasn't won a feature or a trophy dash. #7 has won one heat race, and that is the only Qtr Midget win.
No matter what the engine is, these kids are going to win based on how well they can handle the car. As a parent, we are not going to put our kid(s) in something they can't manage.
Money wise, same question here...when does it stop? We have spent more money on safety features for our cars than on the engine. Having to buy an engine will only add to that.
Not to mention - lap time. Come on guys...who was it that was crying about always getting beat by the Qtr Midgets??? You? Or maybe you? Thats right.
Let the kids race and enjoy the sport. What our kids are learning from all of this is hey, to win, I have to cheat. And there will always be that cheater out there, trying to get the upper hand. It still happens in Nascar for crying out lout.
I am pretty sure this family is down to racing one car at the track, and that is a combination of a little mixup and not wanting to be lapped a billion times by a....JR SPRINT...not a Qtr Midget.
Since lap times are not going to be enforced, no reason to put the car out there and get in the way of someone else, and cause a huge scene.
In fact...if it was up to me - we would just stay home, find a field somewhere, and let them run around for fun. After all, thats what it is supposed to be about...fun - not making dad happy that his kid is the winner. Yes, I am the mom...pretty sure you know which one...=)
Good luck ALL KIDS - not just the Qtr Midget kids granny.

Honestly not complaining about anything thus far. Think the racing has been OK and looks like all the kids are having a blast. Hope to see Lyndon and Brandon out there every week as well as the Stein kid. Would like to see all of the cars run together but that is not my decision to make. But there is nothing wrong with talking about rules and ways to make the sport better. That way five years from now when we are all doing something else(hopefully racing something the families that are out there racing together know what to spend their hard earned dollars on to bring to the track. If the parents that came before our group 2 or 3 years ago would have made some basic sensible rules then we would all be running the same stuff today. We would be talking about fathers day instead of horsepower . Good luck to all you kids.

Thanks for the post Terry. I had thought it was going pretty good so far as well. I think Brandon was coming along pretty good but Lynden most likely won't race much anymore. AS far as restricticted motors go there is no plate for the WF motor but I am only letting him open it just over three quarter throttle. I did this so there wasnt a huge power advantage, and so he could learn to drive more than just out power everyone. I think myself the 6.5 Hp motors would make for some really slow racing but yeah I do think something does need to be worked out. I still have the same idea as I did at the first of the season if anyone would like to talk about it at the track. Ben

See everyone tomorrow. Seems like forever since we got to watch the cars rip around in circles. Can't wait.

3-4 years ago we had very little problems with motor concerns. This was a class me and rocky worked to bring back to the airport raceway and it worked great with everyone knowing that it was a kids class so there was no need to spend the same money on the motor as the 600 classes. The most anyone spent on a motor back then was 800.00. We had I believe 12 cars on the track in a feature a couple times back then. At the end of our kids fitting in the cars is when it got crazy. I feel that you jr. parents need to get with a engine builder and see what you get for 800.00 and go with a sealed motor from only that motor builder. If you have a different motor you are fine till you start dominating then you slow it down or buy a 800.00 sealed motor. This is just if you want to make it the best racing for the kids which will only better their driving skills. I think this price range would make the car count much better and a lot more exciting. Watching this yesterday I have to agree that the quarters are not a problem like even I was thinking they might be. This is just a opinion from a parent that use to have a couple jrs at the track every weekend.
