The services as announced in the paper tonite is saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. It will be at Garnand's Funeral Home on 7th st.

Virgil F. Reed, 68, died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at his home in Garden City.
He was born Jan. 13, 1941, in Cedarville, Ohio, to Robert and Helen Shaw Reed. He grew up in Christiansburg, Ohio, working on a farm until graduating from high school in 1958. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He was stationed in Korea, Germany and Fort Knox, Ky. While in Germany, he married Ursula Herta Nuss on Aug. 28, 1964, in Mannheim, Germany.
After his time in the Army, Mr. Reed became a lifetime truck driver, first in Kansas City, Kan., before moving to Garden City in 1978. He retired in 1996. An avid race car fan, he enjoyed watching NASCAR and loved spending his summer Saturday evenings at the Airport Raceway.
In addition to his wife, survivors include a daughter, Sonja Fassoth of Mannheim; a brother, Jerry Reed of Christiansburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will begin at 2 p.m. Saturday at Garnand Funeral Home in Garden City, with the Rev. David Bell officiating.
